  Went for dinner here and absolutely loved the place. The decor and service was great. Tried the garlic short ribs which were good. I took the green tea sour whiskey based cocktail and that went well with the short ribs. My wife took the lucky seven sushi(which is 7 premium cut sushi of chef’s choice) of which she liked the yellow tail the best. I had taken the Scorpio sting which was really good and I highly recommend it. In the desert we took the cheese cake which is also something I would recommend and definitely come back for. All in all it was a great experience and would definitely come back again.

  My first time at this restaurant was excellent and unique. The servers were attentive, polite, and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and cozy with old and romantic decorations. I came in with my girlfriend and got some delicious fresh sushi sets and rolls. I highly recommend this place for everyone who wants to enjoy excellent sushi in downtown Seattle.

  We had a great server to take care of us. A friend of mine was visiting from the UK and the food made the get together enjoyable. Food can be pricey here and it seems prices have gone up rather significantly lately. Inflation could be the cause. General food quality and freshness of the fish was fantastic.

  Located in the heart of downtown, Japonesa is a well appreciated sushi spot amongst a sea of options. The interior is well designed and clean. The tables are relatively close together, but it doesn’t feel tight. The food is very good – everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. I will definitely be back!

  Nice place for some sushi downtown. Parking can be tough to find since it is downtown, but there should be some street parking. There might be a wait, especially as this place gets busy at night, so it wouldn’t hurt to call or reserve. Nice little cozy atmosphere, but can feel a little cramped. There are a lot of rolls to choose from and they all taste pretty great. Can’t go wrong with anything. When it’s busy service might take a while, so be prepared for that, otherwise waitstaff is pretty nice. Not super overpriced for the value and portions. Overall some good sushi in a nice central location. Worth eating on a night out.

  Stumbled upon this amazing restaurant by accident while touring around seattle with my parents. My mom and I are huge sushi 🍣 nerds and were super excited to try it out. First off the service was incredible. The hostess, our server and the chefs were all very courteous and friendly. The menu was well explained and the sushi was superb. We also got a small bottle of sake for the 3 of us and it was plenty to enjoy the meal with. Would definitely recommend!

  I waited years to go here but finally made it in and it was everything I expected. The omakase is the way to go, along with any a la carte after and dessert. The menu was easily modified to be gluten free and the waitress paid close attention to ensure I received the gluten free versions. The online scheduling made it easy to set a reservation for four and update it as plans changed. Atmosphere and wait staff was pleasant. The bill was high, @ $150 each, but very very worth it for a high end sushi and memory.

  A wonderful experience. Showed up at opening time without a reservation and was promptly seated. Service was quick and attentive. The four course menu is required for each diner alongside appetizers, drinks and seasonal specials. Everything was wonderful from the iced green tea to the wasabi to the sushi.   Wonderful spot for a quick omakase! I didn’t have a reservation but was able to snag the last table with no wait! They did a wonderful job at adapting the chef’s choice dinner to be only fish. Staff was very friendly and carefully explained each piece of fish. I was dining solo and was in and out in 50 minutes. Only thing that could have been improved is if there were more vegetable and salad-type appetizers available. My meal was only fish and rice. Delicious meal overall, looking forward to returning next time I’m in town

  The restaurant called me and see if we wanted the sushi bar prior to our visit. We originally wanted the sushi bar experience so it all worked out. Great atmosphere and great experience. Sean explained all the course and he was amazing. I can definitely taste the difference from all the other sushi place I went so far. Everything was fresh and delicious. Well worth the price and will visit again on our special occasion
